3 colors, 3 flowers and the importance of buying lots of material!

I hove a new passion for paper crafting. And when you have a new passion, you discover artists that inspire you (in my case, is more like I discover artists and I want to be them!).

So, in this area, I have discovered a lot of people who do amazing things. But there are two which are Queens for me!

One is Susan Raihala and the other is Ardyth Percy-Rob. I love both of them.

Everybody does a great card now and then. Even me. What impresses me is that - first - each card that they are making is great. Great! Secondly, they have "their" style and touch. It is at the point where you can see a card and say, it's Susan. Or Ardyth.

Anyway, I decided to try and CASE this card from Ardyth.

When I see something I want to use as inspiration, it is hard. How can you be inspired by something without simply doing a copy of it?

Anyway, here is what I've done, and I'm satsified. You can identify the insipration, but is diferent enough. I may do this, till I find MY style and MY touch. When I find them, would I even now?

First I'm showing the finished card but without the sentiment. I was so affraid that I would spoil everything when adding it (this tiny, tiny letters to be stamped on the merge of two different cardstocks.....grrr). So to stay on the safe side, I took a picture before also.

And now I come at the last part of my written rambling. I have a passion for doing. It started with painting, where I explored almost every technique over the years, from oil, to acrylic, to engraving and you name it. Imagine the tons of supplies I bought....

Then, I discovered ceramics. And here you are, I needed a ceramic owen (huge), and tons of material and porcelain, and eartwhere, and whatnot.

Then, I discovered paper.

It has all started with me willing to do a very special card for the 9 years of my little one. So I spend 1000 night on youtube and ... bought a Silhouette. And it was great, and oppening a lot of new avenues.

I must confess I use it very little now. Because I bought a Big Shot, and all cutters, punches, dies and stamps existing. Or most of them. I still buy...

From time to time, I have remorses. I think of all the money spent, it is less in my kids heritage, right?

But then, I need to do a card like this one. and it needs to have flowers. But not any flowers. So there you are, happy to see that yes, you were right buying 200 punches, 400 dies and such!

Finally, I am a resonable person with passions, right?

So this one will go to Less is More and the Paper Players and, last but not least, at Casology.

And, folowing the advise of the wise Ardhty, I'm also putting it at the CASul Friday challenge on the rule of thirds.

  1. This one jumped right out at me in the gallery - so bold and graphic and warm! And then I come here to find these lovely words - I'm so glad you got some inspiration from my card. And you are way smarter than I am, too - I would forget to take that 'just in case' photo before the stamping for sure! So glad you joined us at CASology this week!
